Newborn circumcision
Neonatal circumcision is increasingly preferred. The reasons for its preference are local anaesthesia, short-term hospitalisation, performing the procedure in the presence of the mother, ease of infant care and relatively faster recovery.
In our practice, neonatal circumcision is preferably performed within the first month, under local anaesthesia, in the presence of the mother, in a specially reserved circumcision room and by surgical method. Lidocaine is used for local anaesthesia. The waiting time after local anaesthesia is usually 30 minutes and the circumcision procedure is approximately 10 minutes.
If there is no problem in a two-hour follow-up after the procedure, the babies are discharged.
